Utoo Radio with Other News Sources - October 29, 2025  - Ombudsperson Dianne Lafond reported significant ongoing discrimination in Saskatchewan's health-care system, highlighting around 500 complaints from Indigenous individuals since the office's inception.

The majority of issues stemmed from the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA), particularly in remote and rural communities experiencing service closures and long wait times.

Complaints included various forms of abuse within health care, with many patients reluctant to speak out due to non-disclosure agreements (NDAs).

Lafond emphasized a need for better accountability and cultural responsiveness within the health system and acknowledged the challenge of leading a unique initiative without benchmarks.

The SHA did not comment on specific abuse allegations but expressed intent to review the report and collaborate on addressing concerns.
