Utoo Radio with Other News Sources - December 27 2025 - On September 13, 2026, Canada will stop the Remote Area Border Program (RABC).
This will mainly affect American travellers who don't have to go through customs when they enter the remote parts of Ontario and Manitoba.
The program used to let residents who were cleared ahead of time cross certain areas without having to go through customs.
This will now be replaced by a phone reporting system, and travellers will have to check in with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) at certain locations.
The goal of this project is to improve border security and make sure there is always supervision.
The changes come after a year of not being sure, during which new applications and refills had to be put on hold.
Some U.S. lawmakers and business owners have voiced concerns about the program ending, but there is some hope that the new method will work well.
