Utoo Radio with Other News Sources - December 30 2025 - Indigenous Services Minister Mandy Gull-Masty has not indicated if she will reintroduce a previous clean water bill opposed by Alberta and Ontario, amidst pressure to resolve boil-water alerts in First Nations.

In the spring, Prime Minister Mark Carney promised new laws, but many Indigenous leaders say the government has not been making progress on important problems like child welfare and drinking water systems.

The Canadian Human Rights Tribunal's decision about First Nations child welfare still isn't resolved because the suggestions for funds were turned down since they would only be available for a short time.

Gull-Masty stresses the importance of talking with Indigenous leaders and acknowledges the special problems they have, especially with health issues like disease in the North.

In the meantime, concerns have been raised about the government's commitment to tackling ongoing health issues after cutting the budget.
