Utoo Radio with Other News Sources - December 31 2025 - The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Canada and Alberta lays out a plan for working together to build infrastructure for pipelines, rail, power generation, and sustainable energy projects.

The purpose is to boost the production of natural resources in Western Canada.

Premier Danielle Smith says this is a chance for Alberta to become a global energy giant by combining resource development with sustainability.

The MOU includes a promise to build an Indigenous-owned bitumen pipeline, plans for big carbon capture projects, and promises to cut emissions.

Cold Lake First Nations (CLFN), on the other hand, are worried that the governance model doesn't include Indigenous Peoples enough in planning and oversight.

They want to be active partners in choices about their territories.

Some First Nations leaders, on the other hand, see the MOU as a way to make money and work together, but they also stress the need for Indigenous people to have a real say in future initiatives.
