Utoo Radio with Other News Sources - December 31 2025 - Amazon stingless bees are the first creatures to obtain legal rights.

This historic decision in two Peruvian locations protects these critical pollinators, which Indigenous peoples have grown for millennia and are vital for biodiversity and ecosystem health.

Climate change, deforestation, pesticides, and European honeybee competition threaten the protection, marking a shift in our relationship with nature.

Constanza Prieto of the Earth Law Centre and Rosa Vásquez Espinoza of Amazon Research Internacional led the campaign for this certification, highlighting bees' medical capabilities and Indigenous cultural value.

Bees have the right to exist, maintain their numbers, and be represented in legal situations, with a focus on habitat protection and conservation.

This approach for bee protection is gaining popularity worldwide.
